Stories from the Road

SoHo, London
Sometimes you walk onto a golf course, and there is a big
sign telling you all the things you can’t do and all the ways the golf course
is not responsible, if something happens to you. The latter massage doesn’t
mean much, since the courts will eventually decide who is responsible for what.
The other night we went to the musical, “Let it Be”, and
before the show the announcer said,” Dancing, singing, and taking photographs
are strongly encouraged, as are trips to the bar, which will be open all
night,” Such a message set a great tone and began the show on a high note.
I would like to see a sign at the golf course, which said
something like, “ Enjoy our course and let us know, if there is any way we can
help you. Please pick up a list of our policies and procedures in the
clubhouse.”
We walked a lot of miles today seeing different sights.
Having suffered a pinched nerve in February, my leg is holding up well, thanks
to my physical therapist, Chris Hebeler of Function Smart. For lunch we split a pizza and had dinner
once again in Chinatown. The noodle dish and shrimp were terrific.
Tonight we attended a showing of the Agatha Christie play, “
The Mousetrap”. It is the longest running play anywhere and has been showing in
London for 65 years. We enjoyed the clever show very much and then went to the
local gelato shop for our nightly helping. A dashing young man from Afghanistan
serves us each night. He is studying political science in London and speaks
five languages. He is interesting and
fun, and we’ll miss him, when we leave on Friday.
The Churchill War Rooms suggested by Stella Flocks is a must
see. Not unlike the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Caen Museum
chronicling WW II, the Churchill exhibits are moving, educational, and
important.
