The Perfect Martini

A martini is more than a drink. It is recognition by the spirit that it is time to relax and socialize with good friends. It expresses an attitude. In order to interface successfully with the emotional context, it is essential that a martini be made correctly. A poor martini is a wet blanket in any party.

Put your martini glasses in the freezer. In your metal martini shaker add numerous ice cubes. Make sure they are not ice chips, or you'll have a watered-down drink. Put the shaker with the cubes in the freezer after adding a five-star gin such as Tanqueray 10, Bombay Sapphire, or Hendricks. When the glasses are frosted, and the liquid is ice cold, add a little bit of vermouth and poor in your frosted glass. Don't use too much vermouth. Some people don't like any vermouth. Add three olives on a toothpick. The olives should be of high quality and very tasty.

If the martini is made correctly, there will be small chips of ice floating on the surface. You can gauge the success of your drink by the width of the smile on the face of your guests.
