High in the Himalayas of Northern India is Meru, until
recently an unclimbed peak. The documentary of the same name chronicles two
expeditions to the peak of three American climbers. Led by Conrad Anker, the
expedition goes through many difficult experiences before it finally succeeds.
Jimmy Chin, one of the climbers, beautifully films the expeditions, and the
dramatic action is non-stop.
The film illustrates the conflict between risk and safety and
how it plays out within the climbers’ relationships. I watched this excellent film on Amazon Prime.
