Big Mountain

The air was cold today at Big Mountain, Montana. Roger, Dennis, and I went up on Lift 2,when it opened. The slick run was a foreshadowing of what was to come. The backside was icy with little snow on which to turn. After coffee we decided to head down Tony Mac. It would have been a fine run, if you hadn’t wanted to make turns. We slid most of the way down and wisely packed it in for the day. On the way home we ran into Martin and Eleanor Hale, friends of the Spraggs. Martin is a “rock star” in the area as is Eleanor, who was an Olympic skier years ago. Martin ran the ski school at Big Mountain in addition to coaching many well-known skiers.
