For Mary Ann

For May Ann

The loon’s call,
 From far across the lake,
Colored by the leaves of fall,
Brought me to your place,
A place of beauty and light,
Where the winter fox is safe,
Where the sounds of the north wind,
Bring music to the sleeping forest.
You will live on in my dreams,
You will nourish the spirit of my soul.
I will see you in the morning,
With the rising sun,
And I will see you in the evening,
When the moon is high in the western sky.
