Stories from Cazenovia

Stories from the Road
August 4, 2013

The Penfield Country Club is an unpretentious place with a good golf course and attractive grounds. The food, the music, and the company were good last night for Vicki’s high school reunion banquet. I sat near the former Japanese exchange student from Tokyo, who is now a grandfather and attorney. I also hung out with Brian Roberts an ex school principal and wrestling coach.  He was avid golfer, who was going to the PGA tournament, which begins this Thursday. He told me the tickets were 75 $ per day, and he could only get one for Thursday, since the other days were sold out. He has the same type arthritis as Phil Mickelson, and he was hoping to get a picture with Phil or at least an autograph.

We are now at a quaint inn on the lake at Cazenovia, a small town near Syracuse. The people here are friendly and hospitable. Tomorrow we’ll play golf with Vicki’s teen-age cousins at a local club. It should be fun.

This area of the East is very beautiful with rolling hills, brilliant green pastures, and striking red barns. The winters are rough, but the summers are striking. One of the days we’ll spend taking photos if the weather cooperates.
